Ever Learning But Never Able
Everywhere you go, you see people reading—on buses, in libraries, on park benches—everywhere. They may be reading newspapers, magazines, love stories, adventure stories or fiction books, yet something is tragically wrong. No one, it seems, is searching for God. No one, it seems, is searching for the truth. The very same thing was happening in the days of Noah, which was the cause of the flood.
There are people reading and studying at all the learning institutions in the world, yet they are ever learning, ever reading, but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Tim. 3:7).
The whole purpose of life is to seek the truth and find out why you were born, and why on earth you walk on this earth. The very purpose of this life is to seek God. God’s word says, “If you seek Him, you will find Him.” For God will let you find Him, and He will reveal to you the truth of why you are here (1 Chron. 28:9; 22:19).
Not interested? Neither were the people in the days of Noah interested. Are some of you interested? Good, because God has a wonderful surprise for those who are interested (1 Cor. 2:9).
Man was not created to walk or live as he pleases, but to walk or live in all the Ways that the Lord said he should live. Jesus’ words represent those Ways (John 8:51).
God has given animals instinct. They live and do as they have been programmed by God to live. So God has given animals instinct, but He has given man His manual—the Bible—on how man should live and rise above the animal state.
Before God revealed to man His Ways, He had His Ways tried and tested time and time again (seven times). This was done to make sure they were perfect for man to follow (Psalm 12:6).
Man has instinct—basic animal instinct—but he was designed to rise above that animal instinct and be like God (Eccl. 3:18). This is done by the process of keeping God’s Ways, continually doing good towards others and thus, learning to control those animal instincts and be like God (Eph. 5:1). This is what it means to truly be civilized.
God even promised man that if he would live the Way he was created to live, then no good thing would the Lord withhold from him. God’s word is full of examples of all the blessings that will be showered upon those who choose to live uprightly or righteously in his lifetime (Psalm 84:11). Of course, with these blessings comes the gift of eternal life, if you continue and endure living God’s peaceful, productive, life-changing Way of life (Matt. 10:22; 24:13; 2 Tim. 2:12; Rev. 2:26).
God’s word explains to man how to treat others in a civilized way. It teaches us how to treat our neighbors (all others) with love, as we would want them to treat us.
God wants to know who will and who won’t live decently in this world (Mal. 3:18). He wants to know who cares and those who could care less about living by His Ways. He wants to know who would do good towards others, if they knew to do good, and who would not do good for others even though they knew that’s what they should do to please God (Matt. 25:33-46).
The wicked in the Bible are called dogs, goats, chaff, bad fish and stumbling blocks. They must be sorted out from the righteous and destroyed by the Lord before He sets up His kingdom of righteousness on this earth.
In the days of Noah, God simply spared righteous Noah and his family by having him build an ark, and then He destroyed the rest of mankind with water.
This time He will let mankind destroy itself with wars, famine and disease. A time is coming very shortly that will be so bad, that if Jesus Christ did not return, there would be no humans left alive (Matt. 24:22). At that time, all those who have been found worthy (those who live to please God daily by learning to be servants to others by keeping God’s Ways) will be rescued (Dan. 12:1; Luke 21:36 King James Version).
God says the knowledge of this world is foolish, evil and demonic (James 3:15; 1 Cor. 3:19; 2 Chron. 15:2; Is. 9:17; 44:25). It is certainly not knowledge from above. Most men have rejected God—they have rejected His word which is from above.
God warns all to be saved from this perverse generation by living blameless and innocent lives before Him (Acts 2:40). He wants you to be a light or good example in the world before others by being honest, kind and loyal towards others. He wants you to be a part of the solution to the evil in the world and not continue to be a part of the problem.
Now is the time to put away the books of men and start studying the book of God, so your Creator can teach you, bless you, change you and make you acceptable and worthy for eternal life (Luke 20:35 New American Standard Version).
