How to Overcome Anxiety
If you are a disciple of Jesus Christ and you are now living for God every day by imitating the Father and the Son on a daily basis, then you are keeping the commandments of Jesus Christ and you are performing the Will of God (Eph. 5:1; 1 Cor. 11:1; 1 John 2:6, 17; Matt. 7:21; 12:50; 1 Peter 4:2; John 7:17). You are keeping Christ's works and acting on His words by being careful to engage in good works (John 14:12; 12:47; Luke 6:47; 8:21; 11:28; Titus 3:8). You are not to be foolish, but understand what the Will of God is and then do it from the heart (Eph. 5:17; 6:6).
Christ commands us to cast our anxieties on Him (1 Peter 5:7). He says we are to practice thinking only what is beautiful and peaceful. We are to seek peace and pursue it earnestly and turn away from evil by doing good for Him daily (1 Peter 3:11; Rom. 12:21). This is the Will of God (Rom. 12:2).
We are to clean up our speech, clean up our thoughts and clean up our actions by practicing righteousness daily to glorify God (1 Peter 4:11; Eph. 4:29; 5:10; Matt. 5:16; 1 John 2:29; 3:7). We are to pray to God for all our needs and wants, as well as for the needs and wants of others. Then, we are to have confidence that we will receive what we have asked of God in our prayers because we are living to please Him daily (John 15:16; 16:23-24; 1 John 3:22).
Jesus Christ wants us to enter the good life that He has waiting for us (John 10:10). We enter this good life when we start doing good for others for the glory of God. This is how Christ is formed in us and we become new creations (Gal. 4:19; 6:15; Col. 1:28; 2 Cor. 13:9, 11). Our anxieties begin to disappear when we enter this good life and rest from all our works of the flesh (Heb. 4:10).
Keep in mind that Jesus' Ways are easy and pleasant (Matt. 11:30). That is why God is calling the unwise, the foolish, the sinners, the lowly and the simple-minded (1 Cor. 1:26-28).
Satan would like you to think this is real hard because he wants you to continue to be held captive by him, doing his will instead of God's Will (2 Tim. 2:26; Matt. 6:10).
Those who are living for God are to commit all their thoughts, words and deeds to God until their new heart is completed. So, next time you are anxious about something, give it to God so you won't have to have a bad day. Satan wants you to have a bad day so he can work on you instead of letting God work with you, as you live to please Him daily.
