The Cure for Anxiety
Prices are going up and many people are finding it increasingly difficult to make ends meet. Is your life plagued with anxiety about the future? When the world is tumbling down all around us, we need to look to God and His words of instruction and wisdom.
Matthew 6:33 tells us, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” What does it mean to seek God’s kingdom? It is the opposite of what we seek in this world. In the world, we seek dollars first. We think money is the answer to our anxiety and problems. But how many people have lots of money and are still full of anxiety?
The answer to our anxiety and problems is found in God’s word. His word is so revealing if we only have eyes to see it. Matthew 6:25 says, “Do not be anxious for your life.” Yes, the Lord tells us not to be anxious about the price of gas, the price of bread, or even the price of homes. Luke 12:29 says, “Do not keep on worrying.” These are words from Jesus Christ Himself.
It’s time to pay attention to God’s word and get our minds and lives in order. What a waste of time it is to worry about things we cannot change. It’s time to obey God and live each day with a happy heart. God has the birds and animals instinctively doing His Will daily. They do not fret or worry about what will happen to them, but sing happy songs from the tree tops and they make happy sounds on the ground because our heavenly Father feeds them and cares for them (Matt. 6:26).
By nature, we are all worrywarts because we do not trust that things will go right in our lives. However, if we know and live by the Ways of the Lord, we are assured in our hearts that the Lord will take care of us. Let’s cast all our anxiety on Him, our ultimate problem solver (1 Peter 5:7). All we need to do is perform God’s Will daily in all we think, do and say. He will take care of all our needs (Matt. 6:10-11). This is how we seek God’s kingdom first and practice His righteousness in our daily walk with Him.
